And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. Job 28:28
Psychology doesn't have anything in common with Jesus Christ. In fact, psychology is the antithesis of the eternal Word of God. My Webster's defines psychology as:
psy-chol-o-gy n. 1. a) the science dealing with the mind and with mental and emotional processes.Psychology is not about the physical. It is about the spiritual. It is about how to cure SIN man's way! People whose lives are just fine don't go to the psychologist, it's people that have sin problems! Now if you are a Christian, WHO are you supposed to go to for your problems? Mmmm?
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of GOD, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting ALL your care upon him; for he careth for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7)What about my life's verse?
COME UNTO ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.--Jesus Christ
(Matthew 11:28-30)What about when you need some Christian advice? Can't God speak through His people? Insofar as they speak forth the word of God, the Bible! God works through His word--NEVER with man's sensual wisdom (which is what psychology is)--it's devilish. What is in man anyway? Lust, murder, deceit, covetousness, etc. WHY in the world trust man's way of dealing with sin? man can't even make himself stop sinnin'--it simply can't work. The Bible tells us that we need to talk to our pastor or other fellow believers when we have a problem:
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:1-2)Going outside of God's word to psychology is sin. Look at Freaky Freud and his freaky ideas about incest. When you look at the authors of psychology, you find a bunch of freaks trying to tell us why we sin and how to manage it. I 'll tell you why you sin and I'll save you a boatload of money. You sin because--YOU WERE BORN WITH IT! There is only ONE remedy for the sin-sick soul--THE BLOOD OF JESUS! Go read about the blood, Christian, to find out more about That Fountain. "Christian" psychologists are making money as they fleece the sheep of the Lord's pasture.
A dear reader wrote me about the disastrous results of her family's experience with psychology. She has graciously consented to let us publish her e-mail stating that she believed it would "help others out there avoid the trappings of the psychotherapy cesspool that has entered our churches in the name of self-help groups, recovery groups and 12 steppers".
We don't need advice outside of the Bible. Period. God has given us EVERYTHING that pertaineth to life (II Peter 1:3). On to the letter...

I have had a tragic situation happen in my own life that brings me to your question almost everyday:
"How is the Devil able to fool people into worshipping themselves, false gods, Satan himself, and eventually the beast?" [see The Beast is Coming]My husband and I are currently estranged since last November when a Christian counselor from our church referral list colluded with my husband that he should go find himself aboard a sailboat that is now docked in the British Virgin Islands. He had suffered three bouts of testicular cancer and even though he was healed and able to resume his...job, there was anger and hostility raging out of him everyday. Without getting into some of the past issues that also contributed to his anger, I grew weak myself from the onslaught of his rages and lack of love, so I suggested he talk to this counselor. I have since repented of that worldly solution and I believe God has forgiven me. I have prayed and hoped for my husband's repentance and return home, but the enemy has got him bound beyond belief.
At the beginning of April, my husband came back [home] to have his six month check up only to find his cancer has returned and is wrapped around the aorta of his heart. I was shocked and of course figured this was the place where God was going to bring us back together only to be told by my husband he was still planning to get a divorce and returned to the boat two days later. He comes out here to receive his chemotherapy and stays in a hotel alone while enduring the treatments. Can you see Satan's scheme?
I struggle daily with God on this one. I am a born again Christian. My husband says he is, yet continues to sin openly and defiantly against God and the Holy Spirit. I had to leave my church family due to the fact that they did not remove the counseling group from their referral list. I have since found a small Bible teaching church nearer my home. Our other church was one of those "fastest growing churches in America"--15,000 people attending every weekend.
I encourage you to KOKO and hope and pray for your protection and God's grace in your life. The enemy has already taken a toll on so many lives in the world, but now that he is sitting in the congregations of our mega churches, there will be many lost souls attempting to know Jesus, the best they are able, who will be discouraged. I know for the first couple of months after this whole mess broke loose, I almost was one of those who left His precious promises behind, too. If it weren't for God's grace, my faithful brothers and sisters in Christ who kept reminding of God's goodness, encouraged me to stay in the Word daily, hourly if need be, and people like you, I might have fallen away.
May your day be filled with His blessings and glory and joy.

Epilogue
Our reader said this:
Thanks for your encouraging words. My husband is still angry and out there in the world somewhere. At this point in time, I do not even know where he is staying or living. The counselor's words to me when I asked her if she had passed her ideas by the pastors of our church and what they would think about leading a sick man away from his marriage were, "No, I have not talked to the pastors. And if they would not agree with me on this, I would just have to live with that." I wonder if she can live with the facts of the outcome now. My husband is homeless, familyless, ill and alone and still angry.Yes, it is time to let others know so they will not be deceived and they can start spreading the bad news on these charlatans.
